Why did you choose Baptist?

This program offered all of the essential things I was looking for in a radiology residency, all while being close to home and in a warmer climate.

What is your day like? Any challenges? What's rewarding about your day?

As an R1, my weekdays generally follow a consistent routine. I work from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with a noon conference scheduled daily. These hours may vary, especially when I pick up extra shifts. After work, I usually head to the hospital gym for a workout, then grab a bite from the cafeteria before heading home. Once I’m settled, I spend time with my girlfriend and unwind for the evening.

On weekends, I love being outdoors, trying new restaurants and bars, and exploring everything Memphis has to offer. Finding time to study outside the hospital can be challenging, but I make the most of any opportunity throughout the week. Overall, I’m really satisfied with my schedule. The program provides enough time outside of work to enjoy the things I love, even while managing the demands of residency.

What is your favorite thing about Memphis?

Coming from a small Midwest town, moving to a larger, warmer city with a welcoming, small-town atmosphere has been a great transition. I'm excited to keep exploring the diverse food, adventures, and rich culture this city has to offer.

What made you decide on your career? Was there someone or something in your life that helped you choose your path?

I've always been passionate about health, nutrition, and their connection to medicine. Throughout my clinical rotations in medical school, I found radiology to be the perfect fit for my interests. It allows me to engage with every field of medicine, contribute to patient care daily, and enjoy the flexibility the specialty offers, all while maintaining a balanced lifestyle.

Why would you recommend Baptist to a prospective applicant?

The autonomy and confidence fostered by this program will equip you to become an efficient radiologist and a highly valued member of any practice. Although residency can be a challenging period, this program enhances the experience with a very supportive staff. The free meals, access to a quality gym, ample moonlighting opportunities, and a well-supported education fund with additional resources helps too!
