I chose Baptist because of current residents and attendings that I get to interact with closely each day. Everyone is super supportive and makes learning radiology a much less daunting task. I also like to learn by doing, and the high volume at Baptist ensures there is always something to do!
I started off on some slower rotations where I was able to get my feet wet with the computer system and learn some basics. Now, on Body CT, I am busy all day learning something new on almost every scan that I open. It's overwhelming at times but also very rewarding to see so many different pathologies!
I love the community feel in Memphis. I never meet a stranger and feel welcome everywhere I go.
I chose radiology, specifically IR, because I still wanted to do procedures but without the hectic lifestyle of other specialties.
If you also like to learn through real world practice, Baptist is the perfect place to hone your skills in a low-pressure environment while increasing your knowledge and efficiency as you progress. In the beginning, you can really learn at a pace that suits you because you know the other residents and attendings won't let you fall behind.
